Have you ever wondered how contractors are able to bend larger reinforcing bars (or “rebar”) on-site? Usually the rebar will be bent by a steel fabricator in accordance with the structural drawings and delivered to the construction job site. But sometimes the contractor needs to bend the rebar on-site for specific conditions and if it is larger than a #5 bar it can be difficult. While performing a normal site visit to one of our projects under construction, we observed the foundation contractor bending this reinforcing on-site.
